Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
Sunday 20th December 2009
Edinburgh Queen's Hall
Owen and Olly will be dashing through the snow with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera to bring you a cracker of a Christmas concert. There'll be singing, dancing and jingling all the way with festive favourites including The Nutcracker, Home Alone and Frosty the Snowman.
Devised and presented by Owen Gunnell and Oliver Cox
With the Manor School of Ballet
Featuring very special guest Nicola Benedetti (Glasgow shows only)
Just before Christmas, Owen and Olly visited Glasgow and Edinburgh to host four very special festive concerts. Led by the wonderful singers from Glasgow vocalists Les Sirenes, we all sang along to festive favourites Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman, which featured some extremely talented dancers from the Manor School of Ballet. While the naughty orchestra members pelted them (and each other) with snowballs, Owen and Olly valiantly kept on playing Let It Snow, even finding time to put on more and more layers of coats and scarves!
Superstar violinist Nicola Benedetti popped in to the Glasgow concerts to give us a fabulous rendition of the last movement of Bruch's Violin Concerto, before entering into a 'play-off' with Owen and Olly to see who could play Monti's Czardas the fastest! We decided it was a draw in the end. Over in Edinburgh, the crowd was treated to the 'Wrapping Paper Ballet', which saw Owen and Olly eagerly opening their presents to each other in time to Leroy Anderson's jazzy Christmas hit. We hope Olly wasn't too disappointed with his gift... a pair of socks!
