About Us
For fifteen years Children's Classic Concerts have been delighting families and school parties with their fun-filled introduction to live orchestral music. In recent years concerts have also included jazz, traditional Celtic, world music and percussion in the lively mix of entertainment and education that regularly sells out at concert halls in Scotland.
The aim of Children's Classic Concerts is to provide a relaxed and inclusive experience for concert goers with lots of audience participation during the concert and the opportunity for children to meet conductors, presenters and musicians in the foyer afterwards. The presenter is particularly important at a Children's Classic Concert, with simple, amusing explanations of each piece making the music more accessible.
At Children's Classic Concerts we believe that the thrill and impact of live performance is crucial to children's enjoyment of music, and we are committed to providing the best quality performances for our young audiences. The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Orchestra of Scottish Opera and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra together with artists of international standing from other musical traditions all perform regularly at Children's Classic Concerts.
Concerts are specifically designed by our artistic consultants Owen Gunnell and Oliver Cox, to appeal to children in the 4 to 14 age range although as our aim is to provide fun for all the family there really is something for everyone at each concert.
